Whats your hobby?
I craft, paint, draw, sew, scrapbook, make paper products, bake, garden, and do alot of other things. I enjoy trying new things and being challenged (even if I do get frustrated. lol)
Some of my favorite projects are the paper products I make and some of my sewn items. I also enjoy painting, and making toys which go over well with the kids; I try to change it up based on the show i’m doing and time of year it is.
Here are a few of the things i’ve made….
I find crafting in any form is a great stress reliever and it’s something I really enjoy. It’s also become a family affair with my husband and daughter. It’s a great way to spend time together.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I sew and I can do basic quilting, meaning I can put squares together, stitch up the seams and tie a quilt. However, i’ve always wanted to learn more.
I started really watching videos on Youtube for the Missouri Quilt Company. The lady Jenny, who does the instruction goes over the steps, shows you tips and shortcuts and makes it look so easy to do more than basic sewing. I think this is the year to step it up…I asked the nieces and nephews what their favorite colors are and am looking at some designs she’s done that appear to be easy enough to do.
Hopefully i’ll have these done by Christmas 2018…. Most of the videos i’ve watched you can put together a top in a weekend. With that being said, i’m going to add time to my schedule to do at least one a month.
So far I like the Rail Fence, Nine Patch, and Pin Wheel. Any suggestions on something easy enough to try? Below are some of the patterns I found on google…..69
Have you ever had so many ideas you don’t know where to start?
Ideas come from everywhere when your a crafter. Some ideas come because you have a need or you have kids your keeping busy but at the end of the day we crafters just have a want/need to create something fun and new. One of the problem we face is that there are so many idea sources out there. Pinterest, Facebook, other crafters, conversations with family and friends, flipping through a magazine, or your watching a home improvement show. You hit overload and want to do everything; which is why you have 87 boards on Pinterest…LOL
What happens when you decide on your new projects? You go out and purchase supplies and those supplies sit there because another fabulous idea pops in your head and you go get more supplies. What’s a crafter to do?!
Sometimes you just need to step away, clear your head and then go back, look at your pile and sort through it and decide what needs to get done first. During craft show season is the worst….you want to make and take so many things but what will consumers buy? What season are you in, and what do you do first?
I think I need to take a page from my daughters book and start making a to do list; her to do list is more of a bullet journal that she decided she wanted to make to help get herself organized but I don’t see that as helpful for myself. I think I need to start working on those things I have started first and then move onto the projects I bought all those supplies for (which is alot…lol).
I’d love to hear about your struggles with crafting organization and tips on how you keep yourself on track. What do you do during craft show season to keep yourself organized and on track?
