Welcome to my first tutorial! I hope you enjoy it!
In this tutorial I am going to show you how to create a sticky note take-along. It makes a great gift for someone or for yourself. I’ve also found they come in quite handy when i’m out and I need to leave a note for someone or if i’m out and need to remember something, I can write myself a note.
Here’s what you need to get started:
- Sticky notes of your choice – I like to get them at the dollar store; you can the mini’s as shown below or the full size
- Card Stock in two colors – you can find it wherever craft supplies are sold
- Glue or glue tape
- Mini hook and loop dots (1/2 in) – I get mine from the dollar store, they are alot cheaper than buying name brand
- Stickers/embellishment of choice
For this tutorial I am using the mini’s which measure 1.5 inches by 2 inches.
Cut main card stock color 2 in x 4 in.
If you don’t have a scoring tool you can fold the card stock around the sticky note and press the edges with your fingers. If you are using a scoring tool, score on the long side at 1 3/4 and again at 2 1/4. You can also use a ruler and draw a pencil line where you want the folds to be. Be careful you don’t press too hard and crack the card stock.
Once you have scored/pressed your edges glue the mini in place (I use a glue stick, it works well). You will want to put the glue on back of the mini and place it where you want it, making sure it’s lined up correctly.
If you like the way it looks without adding a tab, just add your embellishment and your set. If you are going to add the hook and loop tab cut your second piece of card stock to size and glue it in place. In this example the width is 1 in by 5 3/4 in. Score at 1 3/4, 2 1/4, 4 1/8, 4 3/4. You can leave the remainder of the strip as is and attach the hook and loop dot to that or you can fold it back a 1/2 in to reinforce where the hook and loop dot will be attached. (see pic below)
Attach your hook and loop dot and then add your embellishments. In this example I just used stickers I purchased at the dollar store. You may have also noticed rounded corners…. I prefer my corners rounded so I clip them with a corner rounder. However, you can leave them square.
These make great teacher gifts at the end of the year, stocking stuffers during the holidays, or just because. They are easy to make and I find they do well at craft shows depending on your show.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial, please let me know what you think.
